Fauna Forest Ecology Ltd of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, are not only ecological bat surveyors - we are active members of several bat (and mammal) groups.
We were lucky enough to assist Derbyshire Bat Group this year, with an on-going scientific research project in the Peak District National Park. DBG are a superb bat group to join; they are active, fun, carry out a number of annual bat box checks and are always happy to help members progress.
During late summer, a series of harp trapping events were undertaken at several cave and mine systems in the Peak District. Species caught included brown long-eared (Plecotus auritus), whiskered (Myotis mystacinus), Brandt's (Myotis brandti), Natterer's (Myotis nattereri) and Daubenton's (Myotis daubentonii).

This exciting project is expected to continue during 2017 and we look forward to the end results. Special thanks to Steve Roe of Derbyshire Bat Group for allowing us to participate, the great company and sharing is knowledge.
